Meet Reed Capshaw
Reed Capshaw, Trombone
Reed Capshaw currently holds the position of Principal Trombone of the Elgin Symphony. He has held the same position in the Lake Forest Symphony and the South Bend Symphony, and is currently a member of the Chicago Philharmonic. He is a regular substitute with the Chicago Symphony and the Lyric Opera Orchestra and has performed with many other major symphony orchestras in the Midwest, including those in Detroit, Milwaukee, Cincinnati, and more.
Reed is currently an artist-teacher at Chicago College of the Performing Arts at Roosevelt University and a part-time lecturer at Northwestern University. He has taught trombone at the University of Illinois-Chicago and North Central College. He also enjoys performing in chamber ensembles. In addition to his participation in Tower Brass, he is a member of the Third Coast Brass Quintet and the Chicago Trombone Consort.
